Prodrive MD, Paul Baylis, explains the thinking behind the company

"I first saw the need for an all-inclusive car management service when I realised that, somewhet ironically, the higher your budget the more difficult it is to choose the right car. Not only do your expectations increase massively, but today's premium manufacturers offer an almost infinitely wide range of trim combinations and options. Tracking down the ideal car, be it a new factory order or a pre-loved classic, is often a difficult and time-consuming venture. While our clients can afford the cars, they can't afford the time.

Once they have their car, they need somewhere to store it, so we also provide the ultimate domestic garage setup. Then comes maintenance - how do you have your Aston Martin serviced when you live 100 miles away from the nearest dealer, or if you're out of the country for 6 months?

I drive a Jaguar XKR and, living in the north of France where Jaguar dealers are thin on the ground and reliable independent specialists nowhere to be found, I have experienced these issues first hand.

Prodrive also offers a full range of bespoke upgrades - performance and cosmetic - to add further value and driving pleasure.

It's a bit of a cliché, but basically I wanted to provide a 'total ownership package' for those who have time to drive their vehicles, but don't want to worry about things like servicing and storage".

With a degree in French and Spanish from Durham University in England, Paul came to live in France 25 years ago, where he studied for a PhD. After a few years as legal expert for the French judicial system, he studied for his MBA and set up a translation company. A number of successful online businesses later, and with a contact book the size of a telephone directory, Paul decided to indulge his lifelong passion and launch a business dedicated to providing a unique all-inclusive service for the high-net-worth car owner who, as he puts it, "only has time to drive".

He works 7 days a week and is not afraid to travel: London on Monday, Monaco mid-week and Italy over the weekend: "What the client wants, the client gets!".
